Interventions and Estimated Results:

Implementation period of the Operation of has been completed.

Activities realised under the Operation and the achieved outputs are as follows:

• Patient Blood Management Strategy and Action Plan has been designed.
• 6 different evidence-based national patient blood management guidelines have been prepared.
• After the training needs analyzes had been made via various questionnaires, online trainings were provided to 2949 specialist physicians working in the transfusion chain, especially the clinicians in the fields that use blood the most.
• Trainings-of-trainers were provided to 75 specialist physicians in order to ensure the sustainability of the related trainings after the project.
• Curricula related to Transfusion Medicine have been examined together with the Council of Higher Education (CoHE) and the Council of Specialization in Medicine, and 4 curricula were developed (Faculties of Medicine, Hematology Minor, Anesthesiology and Reanimation, Surgical Branches).
• Visibility materials (15 bulletins, 1 pocket booklet), 2 press releases and 7 spot films have been prepared to raise awareness. More than 30,000 people have been reached with the newsletter, pocket booklet and visibility materials.
• Cost analyzes for blood and blood component and transfusion have been conducted with the Social Security Institution (SSI).
• In order to improve the inspection capacity of the Ministry of Health, a Blood Service Units Inspection Guide has been prepared and 123 people have been provided with the trainings for inspectors.
• 9 studies were carried out within the scope of Scientific and Technical Studies.
• 6 cooperation and coordination meetings have been held.
• By establishing the Patient Blood Management software system, a demographic and medical reporting system showing the blood and blood component transfusion-indication relationship has been prepared, and the quality and safety of transfusion practices were increased.
