Operation Purpose and Results

This operation contributed to the implementation of Measure 2.1 of the HRD OP which intends “to increase enrolment rates particularly for girls with a view to developing female human resources and access to labour market". In this respect, the operation aimed at enhancing poor students’ high school attendance rates and decreasing early school leaving rates at high school level through helping remove the financial obstacles by providing financial support to the targeted households for two years.

Direct Grant Contract, in the amount of about 41 million Euros was signed in December 12, 2014 with the Ministry of Family and Social Policy (Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Services). Within this scope, it was envisaged to pay one-time cash assistance in order to cover expenses such as stationery or clothing on condition that child regularly attends school. In 2014, 60 Euro per student was paid to 229.207 beneficiaries (9th, 10th, 11th grade students) within the context of the implementation of the project. In 2015, due to the update in the project, 12th grade students were included into the operation and payment amount was increased to 70 Euro per student. In the second payment period, 70 Euro was paid to 330.653 beneficiaries (9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade students) by means of PTT in December 2015. Thus, total almost 560.000 students benefitted from the project.
