Zehra Zümrüt SELÇUK

Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk was born in 1979 in Ordu, Turkey. After completing primary and secondary education in various cities of Turkey (İzmir, Siirt and Giresun), Minister Selçuk graduated from Ankara Anatolian High School in 1996.

She was ranked 49th in the University Placement Examination in Turkey and joined Bilkent University, Department of Economics with full scholarship. She graduated 3rd from the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. She received admission from PhD program in Economics with full financial aid at the University of Michigan in 2000.

She admitted to the PhD Program in Business Administration at the University of Texas and gave lectures on business administration and accounting as a research assistant

After completing her master's degree in Accounting and Information Systems at the same university, she worked as a researcher and senior researcher at the Statistics and Information Department of the OIC, SESRIC (Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries)

She prepared databases, surveys and reports on various topics such as gender, demography, labour force, multidimensional poverty measurement, education and innovation, information performance systems, banking and finance, development aid etc.

Minister Selçuk coordinated many projects and capacity building programs regarding Sustainable Development Goals as Director of Statistics and Information Department of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation since 2015.

She organized international meetings and cooperated with international organizations in the framework of OIC Statistical Commission.

Having engaged in various NGO activities, Minister Selçuk is Ankara Representative and member of the Supervisory Board of Women and Democracy Association. She is fluent in English, and married.
